I am the type of student that likes their projects to have meaning and be useful for later on in life. I am also the type of students that likes structure in a project with a clear plan knowing exactly what I am going to do. However, for this project, I am stepping out of my comfort zone.

For my inquiry project, my end goal is to create a website that I can use to share information and resources with my future students and their families. Ideally, I want to learn how to incorporate different website tools to make the website an interactive and informational hub for my students. Within this idea of a website, I have also found inspiration from my Wednesday school visits in two kindergarten classes. About one third of the students have either diagnosed or undiagnosed designations, which require occasional to full time support from an adult. In all honesty this is not what I expected to walk into on the first day. But, I am realizing that I need to start preparing myself for this situation because one day I will be responsible for a classroom with a variety of support needs. So, while building my website, I want do some exploring and start gathering resources about how I can structure my classroom for different student needs. I also want to learn about different classroom management techniques and activities that I can do with my students depending on how much support they need.

Despite this relatively detailed plan, I still don’t have a lot of structure, but that is okay because this is all part of the inquiry journey. What I do have is a starting point. Next week I will be diving into an Open Course Resource (OCR) from Open School BC on blended learning. My hope for this course is that I will learn about some potential tools I can use on my website and maybe some other tech tools for the classroom. Stay tuned for next week!
